Austen Adventures

Some of you may know (be it from the class website or from your child) that our focus lately has been on Austen's "Pride and Prejudice". We will be reading the text and discussing it in class, but on the day we hand in our final essay, I thought it would be a nice break for the students if they were to watch the film, which tends to seem a little less dry than the text. We will also be spending some time in the computer lab, researching activities, fashions, foods, and other such things that were popular in Austen's day.
If it is possible, I would like to have each student bring in $5 so we can have some of the snacks we learn about from Austen's day, or if that proves to be too difficult, just a bag of chips while we watch our movie. If you or your child are unable to give $5 for this, please let me know and we can work something out.
Thanks a ton!

Open House!

This is just a reminder to all parents that we will be having an Open House at the school this coming Saturday (Nov. 20). It runs from 12pm-4:30pm, and will be held in the cafeteria. You will have a chance to speak to any or all of your child's teachers during this time and raise any questions or comments you might have. I would love to see you all there, and if your child wants to come along, they are more than welcome!
Looking forward to seeing you there,

-Ms. P

Rants, Raves, and Reveries

Hello and Welcome to the British Literature Blog for Parents!
I will be posting throughout the year with what we are working on in class, and would love to hear your opinions along the way. What do you feel is working? What isn't? Feel free to leave comments below, and I will answer each one as best as I can. I look forward to getting to know you and your kids!
